“Meet Your Colleagues” Summer Sessions Thursdays 2-4pm on Zoom only – Fellows and External Fellows only
May 30, 2024: Susan Pfeiffer
Anthropology is the study of humans at the broadest of levels, both culturally and biologically; this includes their origins. I am a biological anthropologist, which means that my focus is human evolution. Most people look puzzled at this academic specialization, but they nod and smile when I say “archaeologist.” I taught about human evolution for 25 years at University of Guelph and since 1999 at U of T. My research, ever since my 1976 PhD from U of T, has focused on reconstructing the lives of past people from their bones and teeth. I have focused on indigenous communities in this region, in South Africa, and in Kenya. This is what I will talk about in my time with Senior College colleagues.
