Jonathan Dostrovsky Jonathan Dostrovsky will present a biographical illustrated account of his many activities which highlight several serendipitous events that significantly shaped his life and career and led to his setting up his research laboratory in the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto in 1977. He became well known in the neuroscience community both for his studies in animals related to chronic pain and brain plasticity as well as thermal sensation and studies in humans involving microelectrode recordings of neuronal activity in patients undergoing stereotactic surgery for the treatment of pain and movement disorders. He has published 310 articles and 26 chapters and his work has been cited over 33,000 times since his first published paper in 1971. In addition to his appointment as Professor in the Dept of Physiology in the Facuicine he is also a Professor emeritus in the Faculty of Dentistry and Affiliate scientist in the University Health Network. From 1993 to 2008 he served as Director of the UofT Collaborative Program in Neuroscience within SGS and from 2005 to 2007 as President of the Canadian Association for Neuroscience.
