Re: Reviews pertaining to Senior College
(1) Section 11 of the Memorandum of Agreement made as of 7 November 2016 between Senior College and the University of Toronto (the Memorandum) provides as follows:
This agreement and the Constitution of Senior College will be reviewed every five years. Upon completion of a successful review, the Vice President and Provost will approve the Memorandum of Agreement for another five years.
At the Nov. 21, 2016 meeting of the Board of Management of Senior College Centre (the Board), it was agreed that the first year of the initial five-year period would be the academic year in which the Memorandum and the Constitution of Senior College (the Constitution) were approved, namely 2016-17 (not the academic year following the 2013-14 review of the former Academic Retiree Centre). Thus, the initial review of the Memorandum and the Constitution will take place in the academic year 2020-21. As reported in the Minutes of the Nov. 21, 2016 meeting of the Board, the preliminary work for the 2020-21 review will be done in the academic year 2019-20.
(2) Section 3.e.v of the Constitution provides as follows:
It will be the responsibility of the Board of Management to initiate and undertake a review of the Centre every five years.
At the Nov. 21, 2016 meeting of the Board, it was explained that the review will encompass both the Centre and Senior College. The review will not be carried out by the Board itself, but by reviewers appointed by the office of the Vice President and Provost.
